STATEMENT OF COMMITMENT TO ACCESSIBILITY

Cunningham Swan has been embedded in the Kingston community for over 125 years – as one of Southeastern Ontario’s largest full-service law firms but also as community members.  We are committed to supporting the full inclusion of persons of disabilities as set out in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, the Ontario Human Rights Code, and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).

Cunningham Swan strives at all times to provide our services in a way that respects the dignity and independence of all people with disabilities.  We are committed to ensuring that people with disabilities receive services of the same quality and with the same timeliness as others do.

Cunningham Swan is committed to ensuring that our policies, practices and procedures are consistent with the following core principles, as outlined in the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA):

  • Dignity:  Our services will be provided in a manner that is respectful to persons with a disability and that does not diminish the person’s importance.
  • Equality of Opportunity:  Our services will be provided to persons with a disability in a way that is equal to those services provided to others.
  • Independence:  Our services will be provided in a way that respects the independence of persons with a disability.  We will always be willing to assist a person with a disability but will not do so without their express permission.
  • Integration:  Whenever possible, our services will be provided in a manner that enables people with disabilities to fully benefit from the same services, in the same place and in the same or similar way as others.  In circumstances where integration does not serve the needs of the person with a disability, our services will, to the extent possible, be provided in another way that takes into account the person’s individual needs.
