I recently gave a presentation to the Ontario Association of Committees of Adjustment & Consent Authorities and have linked the presentation slides to this post.
The presentation was intended to go back to the basics and present information to new members about the statutory framework and official plan conformity when dealing with consents and minor variances and the legal requirements for decisions. Among other topics, the presentation looked at quorums, hearings, evidence and the duty to act fairly and without bias. It also reviewed the topic of conflicts of interest and the Municipal Conflict of Interest Act.
