Lisa Asbreuk, a business and energy law Partner at Cunningham Swan LLP has been elected to the National Board of Directors of the Canadian Renewable Energy Association (CanREA) from a pool of renewable energy industry peers. She will be the only lawyer in Canada on the board and appreciates the support of other law firms and companies across Canada in pursuing this nomination.
Lisa has maintained a strong legal practice in the renewable energy and clean tech sectors throughout her career and has served with local and national organizations over the years advancing clean energy law and policy in Canada.
“The technology exists, and we have the engineering, installation, and contracting know-how across Canada right now, and graduating from our colleges and universities every year, to get on with a transition to a cleaner economy. Now, our financial and professional services sectors need to do more to unlock financing for economically sensible projects. We need to help to enable homeowners and business owners to adopt smart technologies already available in the Canadian market. The world is moving forward, and Canada needs to innovate and keep pace if we want to be competitive and taken seriously on a global scale – if we want to give our graduates and innovators opportunities beyond our borders.”
