Alicia Turney

Alicia Turney is an Associate Lawyer in our Real Estate group.

She assists clients with all types of real estate matters—from first-time home purchases and residential transactions to complex real property matters. Her approach is practical, responsive, and focused on making every step of the process clear and manageable. Alicia’s practice includes the purchase and sale of homes and cottages, residential refinancing, new builds, and rural properties, as well as more specialized work involving land development, municipal real estate transactions, easements, boundary adjustments, title rectification, and the acquisition and disposition of residential, commercial, and rural property.

Alicia has worked in the land services and real estate sector for nearly two decades. She began her career in 2006 with a land surveying firm, where she gained early experience with plans, reference documents, and property boundaries. She later worked with real estate and land registry matters at a Southwestern Ontario law firm before completing her B.A. (Hons.) at Carleton University (2015) and her J.D. at Western University (2018). During law school, she served as a caseworker with Community Legal Services and participated in several hands-on legal clinics.

After articling and working as Legal Counsel with a firm in Southwestern Ontario, Alicia returned to Kingston, where her family has deep roots, to join Cunningham Swan in 2021.

Her practice includes:

  • Residential real estate: home purchases/sales, cottages & rural properties, new builds, refinancing, title certification
  • Acquisitions and dispositions of real property
  • Agreements of Purchase and Sale: drafting, reviewing, and advising on conditions, tenancies, and title issues
  • Easements: creation, correction, review and extinguishment
  • Land development & municipal matters: severances, boundary adjustments, applications for absolute title, road and shore road allowances, subdivision-related work
  • Complex title and Registry Act issues
  • Purchase or sale of tenanted property

Alicia is committed to community service. She served on the Board of Directors of the Kingston Humane Society from 2022–2025 and continues to support the organization through committee involvement. She also brings prior volunteer experience from the social services sector.

Outside the office, Alicia enjoys spending time at her family cottage near Brockville and exploring local trails with her dog, Luna.
