Kevin Cooke is a Partner in our Litigation Group.
He attended Queen’s University for his undergraduate studies, obtaining his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Studies. Kevin obtained a Master’s Degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science. After graduating from LSE, Kevin worked in politics for a few years before returning to law school at the University of Windsor and obtaining a Law Degree (J.D.).
Kevin began his career in Toronto, where we articled at a mid-sized firm. He briefly practiced as an Associate in Toronto, before returning home to Kingston to establish his legal career and set down roots in the community with his young family. Prior to joining Cunningham Swan, Kevin practiced for several years at a local Kingston firm in the area of insurance defence and civil litigation.
In joining Cunningham Swan, Kevin will continue working in his diverse insurance defence practice with a special emphasis on life and disability insurance; as well as complex insurance disputes, with a focus on municipal defence. Kevin also practices in the General Litigation Group and he regularly provides advice and direction to Cunningham Swan’s clients who are engaged in the civil litigation process. Kevin has appeared at all levels of Court in Ontario, including the Ontario Court of Appeal.
Kevin is actively involved with the Frontenac Law Association where he currently sits as President. He is a past board member of the Boys and Girls Club of Kingston and Area. Kevin is also a sessional instructor with the Queen’s Law School.
On the weekend, Kevin enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children. He acts as a commissioner for his fantasy sports leagues. He also occupies his time by rooting on his favourite teams (Blue Jays, Raptors, Maple Leafs and the Michigan Wolverines – Go Blue!).
